American Tribal Style Belly Dance Classes in Cambridge
|
|
American Tribal Style Belly Dance, or ATS for short, is an improvised group dance style that works on a system of short combinations and cues. It's mostly a mix of old-school American Caberet belly dance and flamenco arms and posture.
Invented by Carolena Nericcio of Fat Chance Belly Dance, the style is now danced by women and men all across the globe, who love it for it's beauty, strength, grace and sense of family and connection it creates with other dancers. "I love ATS for so many reasons. It's particularly fab for your posture and you meet people of all shapes and sizes and they all look GREAT, it is a real boost for your body confidence. The whole belly dance community is so welcoming and supportive, and ATS being spontaneous and non-choreographed means you don't have to remember lots of choreography!"

Classes
Classes will be running on Thursdays from 26th April 2012 for 10 weeks, with a week's half term break half-way through, and will take place at St Pauls Community Center on Hills Road, Cambridge
There are options for paying termly, and for drop in classes. Drop in rates are enabled as I know some students want to learn but cannot commit to weekly classes due to work demands, but I encourage people to sign up for a full term as you will progress better along the course and have a lot more fun if you come to as many lessons as possible.
If you'd like to drop in for your first session to see if you'd like to be a part of it, you can pay a one off session price of £6. If it's not your first class, the expensive drop in rate will apply.
Rates below are based on an hour and 15 mins long lesson.

"I'm a 50-something, and ATS is relatively new in my life. But I can tell you this, now I've found it I know I have to keep doing it. ATS transcends dance, and it transcends exercise. It's much more than the sum of its parts. It's about strength, trust, femininity; it's powerful
but simple; it can be emotional too. Oh, and the dressing up is, to use a Demi word, 'awesome'! " Sandra, an ATS student |
